I am certain that for many of you this is like an invitation to watch paint dry, but for those few who maybe have a book repair question, this is your chance to ask it and even see it answered in action.
I will be working on this old christmas book ( in the photo) but the principles will apply to lots of books. There will be some page repair, removal of marks, and eventually re-casing.
I have over 25 years of experience restoring books (and a book conservation diploma from the AAB) and now I am sharing what I know. All of the methods will be archival and conservation oriented. Typically I am orienting my education to amateurs and those with no tools. This may be a little different but I will try to mention simpler alternatives if I use anything fancy.

We are a member-owned cooperative bookstore, and the largest used bookstore in Olympia. We currently consist of 6 Worker-Owners, running the store together with the support of our community of over 1,000 consumer members. We prioritize community care by providing free tea and coffee every day, mutual aid supplies, and hosting community events on a regular basis. We have both new and used books, do lots of consignment with local authors and artists, and try to offer a wide selection of books that are not necessarily found at every other bookstore around.
