Maria Cunningham hosted CBA for a tour of the Reed College Library’s Special Collections. They are in the process of moving to larger facilities–it’s always exciting to watch a library expand!
The first part of the tour was a walk through their various collections. We were able to poke around their extensive collections of Artists’ Books, Lloyd Reynolds, and Bestsellers.
Side note: Artists’ books are hard to photograph when they’re in a case! However, Reed’s collection is one of the best in the region and Maria says it’s one of the most-used sections of Special Collections.
Later, Maria treated us to an in-depth view of some of their highlights and recent acquisitions. A faked antiquarian illuminated leaf and an abolitionist creamer are two items we didn’t expect to find!
